GRANT TO LINK JOBS AND SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

The Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) awarded the Minneapolis Housing and Workforce Initiative an Allies for Employment grant, one of five nationally. Funded by MetLife Foundation, the $40,000 grant funds a year-long planning process focused on developing best practices for connecting formerly homeless residents to employment services. Agencies in the Initiative are: Project for Pride in Living, acting as the lead applicant; Cabrini Partnership; Emerge; RS Eden and Perspectives. Public sector agencies and local employers will also be involved in the process.

The grant will result in identified best practices and recommendations for linking supportive housing residents to jobs. Executive Director Mary Morris said, "Cabrini Partnership is pleased to join with other nonprofits, public agencies and local employers to explore how we can best support individuals who are seeking to become more self sufficient. CABRINI PARTNERSHIP RECEIVES GRANT FROM TARGET

Cabrini Partnership announced today a grant from Target® in support of its mission to support homeless adults with mental illness and chemical dependency to strengthen their lives, families and community.

“We are grateful for Target’s generosity in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. This grant helps to make it possible for our residents to achieve goals that move them toward breaking the cycle of homelessness, including stable housing, reduced use of emergency room and crisis services and employment opportunities that lead to greater self sufficiency,” said Mary Morris, executive director of Cabrini Partnership.

CABRINI PARTNERSHIP WELCOMES THREE RESIDENTS HOME
These are the first Cabrini Partnership residents in the new Van Cleve Development
Cabrini Partnership welcomed home three residents today to their new apartments at Charlotte Commons in Van Cleve Development.

Among the three is Jerry, who said when he first saw his new home, “You people have changed my life. I don’t know how to repay you.”

Eighteen months ago, Jerry was the victim of a drive by shooting. He wasn’t expected to survive. He subsequently lost his home and his family. He was in precarious condition, both physically and mentally, when he entered Cabrini Partnership’s permanent supportive housing program less than a year ago.

Jerry has made a remarkable recovery since then. While his injury will leave him partially disabled, his physical and mental health is much improved. Jerry is making plans to start his own painting business and has already helped repaint several apartments for Cabrini Partnership clients. He has reunited with his children and is eager to show them his new home.
